Eiffel Tower Goes Dark For Five Minutes

The Eiffel Tower above is shown just before the 20,000 bulbs went out Thursday Feb. 1, 2007 at 7:55 p.m. for five minutes.  The City of Light went dim when thousands of Parisians joined in a five minutes “lights-out” campaign aimed at showing citizens concern over climate change.

The Eiffel Tower switched off its lights for five minutes to call attention to energy conservation on Thursday, February 1, 2007.  Many citizens also switched off the lights in their homes and the energy usage dropped by 1% according to local news sources.
